Fourth of July Weekend Fun

Dave and Melissa and the kids came over to visit on Saturday afternoon and stayed until this afternoon. It's amazing what you can do in less than 2 days---on Saturday evening we went to family swim at the Okanogan pool. After feeding the kids a quick dinner after we got home, we put everyone in bed and AFTER that we had a great adult only dinner of bbq meat and corn on the cob! YUM!! On Sunday all were up early so that we could head out to Twisp to go to church. In the midst of getting all ready for church we needed to pack the coolers and bags up with picnic food and towels. After church we headed directly to the city of Brewster which is located right on the Columbia River. At the city park, our church had a great picnic area right on the water complete with bbq; LOTS of food and jet skis! There was a little parade as we were leaving. LOVE small town parades--as each parade participant goes by, they throw out handfuls of candy for the kids! We didn"t stay for the fireworks since everyone was so tired! After coming home and getting people in bed, all us big kids went out to the fire pit and made smores. This morning before they left, Jeremy and Dave made bat houses and got those all hung up.
So needless to say we are ALL going to sleep well for the next week or so! :)

  1. Sounds like a fun time for everyone. I love that you guys had kid dinner then grownup dinner. That's a great plan since kids don't appreciate the good food half the time anyway. Get some rest in the higher temperatures lady. You sound like you are squeezing out summer for all it's worth with all the activity lately!
